Abstract

In order to study postoperative surgical stability of mandibular prognathism, 20 patients(9 men and 11 women) were studied who underwent sagittal split ramus osteotomy. By comparing the periodical lateral cephalometric radiograms(preoperative,
immediate
postoperative and late postoperative), we could reach the conclusion as follows.
1. 60% of the patients showed postoperative relapse and the relapse rate in B point was 11.98% horizontally.
2. There was lower relapse tendency in the patients with combined orthodontic treatment.
3. There was high relapse tendency in case of the large mandibular plane angle.
4. Relapse rate in the patients of large amount mandibular set-back(8mm>)was higher than relapserate in the patients of small amount set-back (8mm<).
